My Story
Hi, I’m Jess Hayden.
I’m a Data Analyst and consultant specializing in process automation and data quality.
I like taking messy data, inefficient processes, and problems without an obvious solution and figuring out how to make them work better.
A lot of the problems I work on start with something simple: a report that takes hours to create, a repetitive process that everyone has gotten used to doing manually, duplicate or inconsistent data, or a workflow that keeps causing problems and no one is quite sure why.
That’s where I come in.
The Problems I Solve
I help businesses find better ways to handle their data and day-to-day processes, including:

Sometimes the answer is automation. Sometimes it’s cleaning up the data. Sometimes it’s simply figuring out what’s actually going wrong before deciding how to fix it.
What That Looks Like in Practice
Throughout my career, I’ve worked on problems where the existing process technically worked—but it was taking too much time, creating errors, or causing problems somewhere else. A few examples:

I rebuilt a daily data delivery process from end to end using Python, reducing a roughly two-hour workflow to about five minutes while eliminating file-matching errors.
🔁 30+ Reporting Workflows Automated
I automated more than 30 recurring reporting workflows using SQL and Python, reducing manual processing by as much as 85% across seven departments.
🔍 1,500+ Duplicate Records Resolved
I investigated a data quality issue affecting downstream workflows and identified more than 1,500 duplicate physician IDs, helping the organization clean up the affected records and restore accurate patient-provider matching.
Why I Do This Work
I like problems that don’t come with a clear playbook.
I’m most interested in finding out why something isn’t working, what’s actually causing it, and what we can do to make it better.
That’s also why process automation became such a big part of my work. I don’t like doing something manually just because “that’s how we’ve always done it.” If a repetitive process can be made faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain, I want to figure out how.
And automation isn’t always the answer. Sometimes the real problem is bad data, a broken process, or something happening upstream that no one has noticed yet. I enjoy digging into those problems just as much as building the solution.
Tools & Experience
I primarily work with SQL Server, Python, pandas, openpyxl, and Excel, with additional experience in Power BI, Git, Jira, C#, data validation, software implementation testing, and technical documentation.
My professional background includes healthcare, insurance software, reporting, data operations, and process improvement.
